BAM Theatre After School Enrichment Start this Wed. 1/17!

💚CALLING ALL DISNEY VILLAIN FANS 💜 

BAMtheatre will be back at Monroe this spring, bringing an extra dose of After School Theatre Enrichment excitement! 😈 This term, join us for a villainous good time where students will channel their wicked charms in “Rotten to the Core: Songs of a Disney Villain” featuring songs from the Descendants and other iconic villains. 

This class will be held on Wednesdays after school beginning January 17th. BAM's comprehensive structure features a blend of captivating activities, games, and rehearsals, all culminating in a showcase on the final day for friends and family to enjoy.

Monroe 2023-2024 Yearbook Cover Contest Starts Now!

Calling all Monroe Mustang artists! All Monroe students are invited to submit their artwork for the 2023-2024 yearbook cover contest. Winners from each grade will be selected to be displayed on or in the yearbook.

A flyer and sheet of blank paper included in Friday folders but students can use any plain piece of paper that is 8.5 x 11.

Brick Paver Sale - Help Needed!

Each spring our PTO holds an online sale for families in our community to purchase customized Brick Pavers for Monroe. We are in search of a parent to coordinate this sale. Past coordinators have noted that this volunteer position "takes very little time"!

The tasks include:
- advertising the brick paver sale in the weekly Mustang Minutes
- all orders will be taken electronically via the PTO
- communicating with the vendor
- coordinating the brick installation

Season of Science is here!

Tis the season for your favorite science shows, experiments and fun activities! Our science fun this year will last for a whole "SEASON," through the months of January and February.

Get ready for the “Get Science” show on Friday, January 19, with our kick off assembly. From there, we will be sending DIY experiment kits home, featuring Monroe parents in STEM, and culminating with a very exciting, hands-on science experience!

Check your student's folder for handouts with important dates and more details. We can't wait to grow our love for science with you!

5th Grade Glow Party - Tickets Sales Close Fri. 1/26

All fifth-grade students are invited to 'glow' with their fellow classmates & parents at Ruth Lake Country Club on Friday, February 2, 2024 from 6pm-9pm! Enjoy appetizers, drinks & glow sticks while dancing with DJ Maxximus. Cash bar for adults.

All students MUST be accompanied by at least one parent. No siblings please. BOTH students and chaperones require a paid ticket for entry. Tickets are $45 per person. Tickets must be pre-purchased by January 26th. No tickets sold at the door.

Off to the Races! - Sat. 5/4

Planning is underway for this year's fundraiser, Off to the Races! The derby-themed event will take place on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 5pm at Chicago Highlands Club. Early-bird pricing ticket sales will open February 11. We hope to see everyone there!

We are offering business and family sponsorship opportunities at various levels.

Congratulations to Juliana Chi, Oak School, Grade 2 for designing our winning Elementary sticker for December, representing the theme "We Care for Others"!

Green Club Old/Broken Crayon Collection - Last Call

The Monroe Green Club is sponsoring a used crayon collection. We are collecting old and broken crayons to donate to the SCARCE Super Crayon Project. By collecting old crayons, we are helping to prevent crayons from entering our landfills. Plus, the oil from crayons will be melted down and made into different shaped "Super Crayons" for children with special needs.

Thank you for supporting this Green Club project! 

The collection ends Wednesday, January 17.
