Monroe Cares – Hurricane Relief

Monroe Cares is a PTO Committee whose main goal is to engage our children in hands-on fundraising and scholastic efforts to share with those in need.

Monroe Cares For Hurricane Harvey Victims

In light of the recent tragic events caused by Hurricane Harvey in Houston, Monroe Cares wants to do its part to help the families and children who have lost so much. Children have been displaced, schools have been devastated and all school supplies have been swept away. Monroe Cares wants to join the relief effort in donating school supplies as well as money for the children in the affected areas.

We will be collecting donations from those who would like to donate on Wednesday, September 6th outside the MRC between 10 am-12 pm, as well as in the evening during Curriculum Night. We welcome donations of:

  • $1 from those students who would like to donate (more is welcome).
  • spare/ extra school supplies (notebooks, pencils, erasers, crayons, markers, color pencils, glue) that you may have at home.
  • students are also welcome to donate any item from their desk at school, if they would like

Monroe Cares will be donating the money to the American Red Cross and school supplies will be donated to the local ‘School Counts’ corporation, which is collecting school supplies to be transported to Houston in a few weeks.

Our hearts go out to all those suffering from Hurricane Harvey and we hope to make rebuilding the families and children’s lives just a little bit better.

Monroe- Stronger Together!
